Finally Hurricane Harvey, now a tropical depression, is moving away from Houston and heading north. Yet Americans still watch and pray as the extent of the damage becomes more clear. An enormous flood produced by an unheard of 50+ inches of rain is scarcely imaginable. People have lost homes and belongings. At least 38 people are dead. Our southern neighbors need our continued prayers and lots of relief.
On the other side of the world, a similar disaster unfolds. Monsoon rains are devastating parts of South Asia. While not uncommon during the annual June-September monsoon season, flooding this year is worse than it has been for years. Thousands of villages are cut off from relief agencies, leaving people without access to food and clean water for days. The death toll has exceeded 1,200 people. Millions more suffer the loss of homes, crops and livestock. As farming collapses, unemployment is expected to rise sharply long after flood waters recede.
Frontier Fellowship has partners ministering in this region. They have shifted some church planting efforts to emergency relief work during this historic monsoon season. As they deliver supplies and food, they also share the good news of Jesus’ love and faithfulness.
Please pray for South Asia and our partners’ work in relief and evangelism ministry. Pray for suffering families and the many months of rebuilding work that must follow. If the Lord moves you to share your financial resources toward this effort, you can give online here or send a check to Frontier Fellowship and mark it Monsoon Relief. Bless you as you join us in praying and sharing.

Prayer requests from our partners:
- For people who are filled with fear and helplessness to find peace and hope through all the relief work done by God’s people
- For government officials to continue to work with integrity and reach people on time
- For NGO workers to take relief materials to the neediest places and people
- For local churches and Christians to open their homes and share resources with those affected by the flooding
- For protection and good health of everyone involved in relief work
- For politicians and government officials to develop strategies to minimize flooding and manage the disaster well
We are praying for the people of India, Nepal, and Bangladesh as they deal with flooding from the heavy rains. May God be present in meeting their needs, in recovery, in leadership, and give them hope for the future.
Amen! Thanks for joining us in prayer, Ginny!
