Our Savior has come! Christmas is here! Author and theologian Howard Thurman, in his poem “The Work of Christmas,” describes the ongoing work of Christmas—not just one day of celebration, but the ongoing mission of Christ:
“When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among others,
To make music in the heart.”
May these words encourage and inspire you in the next steps of your frontier mission engagement, that one day soon every nation, tribe, people and language will be gathered into the community of God’s Kingdom together.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
