WEEK THREE | DAY TWO | JOHN 8:12
No matter how bright the stars that first Christmas night, nor how notable the star of the East that led the wise men, no star shines as bright as the “Son of God, love’s pure light.” Christ’s light is eternal, shining through even our darkest days and nights. His redeeming grace dawned indeed and saw its fullness on the cross.
SILENT NIGHT, HOLY NIGHT!
ALL IS CALM, ALL IS BRIGHT
‘ROUND YON VIRGIN MOTHER AND CHILD!
HOLY INFANT, SO TENDER AND MILD,
SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE …
SILENT NIGHT, HOLY NIGHT!
SHEPHERDS QUAKE AT THE SIGHT.
GLORIES STREAM FROM HEAVEN AFAR,
HEAVENLY HOSTS SING: “ALLELUIA!
CHRIST, THE SAVIOR, IS BORN … “
SILENT NIGHT, HOLY NIGHT!
SON OF GOD, LOVE’S PURE LIGHT,
RADIANT BEAMS FROM THY HOLY FACE
WITH THE DAWN OF REDEEMING GRACE,
JESUS, LORD, AT THY BIRTH …
The beauty of the Christmas story continues to shine. In Scripture it is traced through from promise to prophecy; cross to empty tomb; to the Church preserved, commissioned and continuing to share—in word and deed—the Good News of redeeming grace. A Christian leader from the Middle East recently shared, “We are all on one team: staff, partners and intercessors. We work together to bring the living and nourishing Bread of Life, the written, incarnated and living Word of God to a young and hungry Church.” The light of Christ continues to shine through the Middle East. Where do you see a similar example in your context? How can you be a part of helping share the Light?
