Advent is a season of preparation—waiting, hoping and watching for the light. It signifies the arrival of Jesus, who was born and lived among us, died and rose again—to redeem and restore all of creation.
How do we spend this time of preparation? We imagine what it must have been like to wait in hope for the birth of the long-promised Messiah. We reflect on the promise and prophecy. If the Old Testament is a crescendo to Christ’s coming, then the New Testament is the clarion call for us to finally “come and see” Jesus. God’s Word, His creation and the Church shine and speak of light and life. So we take time to reflect, repent and worship—all to His glory. We are re-energized to go and tell the world, “Jesus Christ is born!”
Around the world, music is a significant part of the Christmas season. From the ancient hymns of the early Church to the contemporary songs of today’s global Church, music helps give expression to our worship. We remember Christ’s birth and await His second coming. Our music resonates through the centuries as we live between the already and the not yet, the come and the coming.
This year, Frontier Fellowship invites you to immerse yourself in the music of the season. Our devotional features both familiar tunes and new discoveries to help you reflect on God’s presence in your life and catch a glimpse of His work on the frontier. Imagine thousands of people experiencing the true meaning of Christmas for the very first time this holiday season! As you move through your daily devotions, enhance your reflection by listening to each song. Many are available online or in your preferred audio format.
As you reflect on Promise + Prophecy, respond to Come + See, and rejoice in Life + Light—all in preparation to Go + Tell—we pray that God will bring insight, hope, and joy to your daily devotions, deepening your understanding of and love for the world’s least-reached people.
