WEEK THREE | DAY THREE | ISAIAH 60:1-3
This late-20th-century Christmas carol captures our Advent longings and our daily heart’s cry that Jesus be our all. Composed by modern-day British hymn writer Bernadette Farrell, its full lyrics are a beautiful prayer asking God to shine the light of Christ through His people, the whole Church—encouraging us to embody Christ’s love and reflect it back to all peoples of the world.
While we wait in the already and not yet of Advent, God invites us to walk with Him and reflect His light for all to see. In Central Asia, Frontier Fellowship’s two Women’s Shelter partners are sharing the hope of the Gospel in words and action through their holistic care for marginalized and vulnerable women and children. They are faithfully embodying the lyrics of this song and helping others find light and life through Jesus. Ask God to open your eyes and heart to those in your community who might be longing for food, water, shelter or warmth. How can you extend your time, talents and resources to meet the needs of your neighbors both near and far?
