As we enter week 2 of Advent, we celebrate the coming of Christ. We revel in the angels’ announcement and the enthusiasm of the shepherds as they called others to come and see the newborn baby, the promised Messiah. And we rejoice that, like the shepherds, we too can call others to Come + See!
Earlier this year, a team of church planters in South Asia was sharing the Good News of Jesus in a village when they were approached by a frail, distressed woman. She had suffered severe blood loss for two months and doctors had been unable to help. Moved by her plight, they offered to pray for her.
God healed her, right in that moment! The onlookers who witnessed this miracle were amazed and wanted to hear more about Jesus. This woman now shares her testimony with everyone she meets, eager to introduce them to Jesus, the Savior.
One church planter shared, “This miracle reaffirms our commitment to continue spreading the Gospel, knowing that—through faith and prayer—lives can be forever changed; hope can be restored even in the most desperate of circumstances.”
As you enter this week, take a moment to reflect on these lyrics from the hymn, “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” a musical invitation to come and see Jesus.
O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL,
JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT,
O COME YE, O COME YE TO BETHLEHEM!
COME AND BEHOLD HIM,
BORN THE KING OF ANGELS;
O COME, LET US ADORE HIM,
O COME, LET US ADORE HIM,
O COME, LET US ADORE HIM,
CHRIST, THE LORD!
