“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.” —Hebrews 2:10 (NIV)
A pioneer paves the way for those on the frontier to hear the Good News of God’s Kingdom. God calls pioneers from every nation, tribe, people and language to faithfully carry the Gospel to their contexts and communities.
Light of the Islands (LOTI) is an indigenous church planting network that is sharing the Good News of Jesus among least-reached peoples in Indonesia—the nation with the largest Muslim population in the world. Earlier this year, one of their teams was returning from a remote village. On the way, they encountered an elementary school teacher named Fadhlan,* struck up a conversation and were soon invited to his home.
A few days later, when they were all together in Fadhlan’s home, the LOTI team shared the Gospel with him for the very first time. Fadhlan was so moved that he decided to follow Jesus that very day. His wife soon followed, and both expressed a desire to make their faith public.
Being a pioneer among frontier peoples can be challenging, slow-going work. But it’s crucial in opening up Gospel access to the 2+ billion people waiting to hear the Good News.
Read Matthew 9:35-38. Ask God to send more pioneers with the Gospel to the farthest corners of the globe.
